Soochippara Waterfalls



Soochippara has the popular sentinel rock waterfalls in Wayanad Kalpetta. Soochippara Waterfall situated near Meppadi is one amongst the gorgeous water bodies in Kerala. At Soochippara there are stretches of waterfalls which are at high altitudes ranging from 100 to 300 feet height. At Soochippara the Sentinal Waterfalls is really a great treat to the sightseeing guests.  
At the Sentinal Rock Waterfalls there is the pool below providing space for water rafting, bathing, swimming, and other recreational activities. At Soochippara the specialties are the tree top huts that provide a unique view of Western Ghats valleys. Apart from these there are sparkling shallow waters and springs. 
Soochippara Waterfalls adds more beauty to Wayanad Kalpetta. In the mother tongue of Kerala, Soochirefers to needle and Para refers to rock. This is the reason behind the naming of the place. The Sentinal Rock Waterfalls are really high ranging up to 300 feet in height. The Sentinal Waterfalls comprises of totally three stretches. These stretches fall into Meenmutty, Kanthanpara, and Soochippara. At the end these stretches combine and reach the Chaliyar River.

Soochippara is an undiscovered beauty in Wayanad Kalpetta. In order to reach the falls you need to go through the green tea gardens. The nice aroma of tea leaves is present in the atmosphere. After this you need to proceed 2 kilometer down the equatorial forest. There are steep rocks in the area. Soochippara and its surroundings are ideal for holiday homes. In this place the Wayanad real estate is growing fast. Wayanad can aptly be termed as a paradise for nature lovers. Soochippara adds more beauty to the picturesque Wayanad. Meenmutty Waterfalls



Meenmutty falls is among the best and gorgeous falls in Wayanad Kalpetta. Wayanad comprises of some of the beautiful falls in Kerala. The must visit falls in Wayanad are the Meenmutty Falls, the Kanthampuram Falls, and the Suchipara Falls. Meenmutty falls is 29 kilometre far from the Wayanad Kalpetta. Meenmutty fall is a 300 metre high fall and is three-tiered. Meenmutty fall, the biggest and magnificent falls in Wayanad is situated at two kilometre hike through the forest from the Ooty road.
 Meenmutty falls is the second largest in Kerala and still retains its natural beauty. Now let’s see the name reason for Meenmutty fall. In Malayalam, the mother tongue of Keralites, Meenmutty means "where fish are blocked". Since there is upward falls where fishes can’t swim further this name is given to the falls. The three tiers of the waterfall requires separate hike through the forest. It is important to note that the path to reach the falls is perilous and tiring. But you must also remember that once you reach the falls you will have great deal of enjoyment in store.
 To reach the Meenmutty falls we need to trek for two to three kilometers. The 300 meter high falls is really splendid and wonderful. On the way to the falls we have caves. These caves had Neolithic age carvings. There are officials who explain the details about the carvings.  In the cave ceiling there is a rock trapped with sunlight oozing in from its sides. This rock is called 'Edakkal' which literally means “the rock in between”.  There are picturesque locations in the way to the falls, so just don’t forget to carry your handy cams so that you can shoot scenic views. Kanthanpara Waterfalls



Kanthanpara waterfalls are a treat to the eye of nature lovers and multi cultural visitors. Kanthanpara waterfalls are situated in Wayanad Kalpetta. Next time you visit Wayanad remember to include Kanthanpara waterfalls in your trip itinerary.
 Kanthanpara Waterfalls is located twelve kilometers southeast of Wayanad Kalpetta. It is eight kilometers east of Meppadi. There are beautiful tea gardens on both sides of Kanthanpara waterfalls adding more beauty to the scenic waterfall. The nice aroma of tea leaves can be smelled near this waterfall. The waterfall raises a mild noise while falling and it is a very excellent trekking spot for novices. This wonderful 99 foot cascade is an excellent tourist spot for a day-long trekking tour.
 You can reach to Kanthanpara waterfalls easily from the Kozhikode railway station. The closest airport to Kanthanpara waterfalls is the Calicut Airport. The waterfall at Kanthanpara is about 30 meters in height. Even though Kanthanpara waterfalls are relatively smaller than Sentinel Rock Falls, it is also a beautiful cascading water body for exploring and trekking. But unfortunately it is rather less frequented by tourists. Kanthanpara with its gorgeous surroundings present a very pleasant and interesting camping site. The major advantage with Kanthanpara waterfalls is that it is an easy hike away from main road, and even children and trekking novices can reach the waterfalls with minimum effort. The waterfalls present scenic view points for photographers and nature lovers. You can capture excellent snaps with your handy cams in and around the waterfall area. Children would love to trek and camp in these beautiful waterfalls.

Pookot Lake



Pookot Lake is a picturesque location and a major tourist attraction in Wayanad. You will enjoy a day’s trip and camp in this location. The lake is surrounded by thick woods and trees. This scenic lake presents a calm and serene environment. This is an excellent camp site for peace lovers. This tourist attraction is situated half way from Calicut. From Kalpetta you can reach Pookot Lake in half an hour.
 Surrounded by forests, and greenery, Pookot lake Wayanad is an enchanting location for nature lovers and photographers. You can’t resist taking few photographs of the excellent location. But it is important to note that boating is not permitted here. Due to some commercial renovations in recent times, some of its wilderness charms are removed.
 Pookot lake Wayanad at a close distance to Vythiri is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous tourist spot in the entire location. The lake is cuddled up in the surrounding lap of mountains. The tall trees and dense woods that surround the pathway of the lake provide a memorable visual treat. There is also a freshwater aquarium near the lake which displays colorful and beautiful fishes.
Near Pookot lake Wayanad there is a Children's Park and shopping centre for handiwork and spices. These shopping centers are maintained by District Tourism Promotion Council. These facilities provide recreational activities to the visitors. Children will love this excellent calm and beautiful location and will enjoy the colorful display of fishes.

Kuruva Island



Kuruva Island is a beautiful tourist spot located in the heavenly Wayanad. Situated in the Kabana River tributary, Kuruva Island is a gift of nature to Wayanad tourists. You are astounded by the calm and gorgeous ambience prevailing in the place. The vast stretch of evergreen forests in the surroundings present a great getaway. Kuruva Island is separated from other spots but houses a number of rare birds, orchids and herbs. Kuruva Island is at a distance of seventeen kilometers from Mananthavady.
With a total area of 950 acres Kuruva Island is plentifully rich with green woods. Far from the maddening city crowds lies this calm and beautiful island presenting an excellent atmosphere for tourists to relax and rejuvenate their mind and soul. This island is also referred as Kuruvadweep.

Kuruva Islands are uninhabited and is situated in the middle of Kabani River. Kuruva Island offers a small and undisturbed forest which is suitable for a relaxing tour.
